Just thought I'd give it a go.

I wrote this years and years ago, after I perfected the impression of the titular character...

Pump-Action Wombat.

dressed in green,
really rather mean,
master of combat
pump-action wombat

There you go.

Oh, me next.. Ummm.. This is old as well. Named the damn thing "Vanadium." Kinda.. Weird, and morbid, maybe.

Where the gods are dead,
And the wicked play.
Where the playgrounds are silent,
And the children all say,

"Keep us near danger,
Make us feel pain.
My mommy told me I will die,
And hang my head in shame.

Join us here in the dark,
Laugh with us at the empty stadium,
Hold my hand and stay with me,
Stay with me in Vanadium."

Uh, the end.

It's good stuff. I've found a lot of military people are actual very good poets.

Oh well, never mind. I know plenty of people here who have who'll get the reference.

What's the next line there, Smokes?

"Boom, boom, boom, boom?"

Hee. No worries, I got the reference. :D Baldrick's poetry is almost as good as his novel:

"There once was a lovely sausage named Baldrick..."

Alright, I'm done. I'm rubbish at poetry. Carry on with your iambic pentameter selves.

SHADOW

Postby Zombiesaurus » Sat Mar 26, 2005 7:10 am

"Shadow" (by me, baby)

Where there is light
You find shadow
There are always places
The light cannot go
Dark little secrets
You cannot know
in the midst of happiness
A touch of woe
And where there is light
there is always shadow

JOY

Postby Zombiesaurus » Sat Mar 26, 2005 7:27 am

(more self-indulgent, pretensious bull by me, baby)

Joy

There is no joy, there is no smile
there is no hope, so wait awhile
see what's coming
what tomorrow brings
pain and hate and wonderful things
cruelty and disease and flame filled skies
the daily horrors that keep you alive
there are no laughs, no happy songs
only the pain will keep you strong
hope brings nothing but sorrow
so wait a while until tomorrow
and see the hate and rage it brings
death and despair and wonderful things
remain depressed and all annoyed
and welcome pain, overjoyed

That is awesome. Your subjects are just as good as mine. I can never think of anything nice or pretty or whatever to put into a poem. I like those.

pretty poems are for the flouncy shirt brigade, not hard-nosed cynical bastards like us. Life is shit, then you die. We just recognise the shit. We bathe in the venom of life, and ask for more. Without people like us, everyone would be in heaven. But life's not like that. sometimes it takes a miserable old git to point out the hell we all live in.

You may guess, i'm not in the brightest of moods today.
