I don't know whether I'm disgusted by this or not...

Barely resembles the look or tone of the old cartoon... Seems to be entirely missing the sense of fun and wonder of it all... taking itself far too serious.

I'm still gonna get wrecked and watch it. Looks like it could be visually pleasing, even if it isn't close to the original.

There's plenty of new trailers for this out there now. All I have to say is...

You know exactly what this reminds me of: Does anyone remember the "hip, trendy, flashy" remake of Rollerball they did a few years back? I thought not...

This film is going to suck.

Goodman's been in some really great stuff... Big Lebowski, Raising Arizona, Monster's Inc., Rosanne... but he's also been in some really horrible crap as well the Flintstones and One Night at McCool's.

Had this argument with a friend last night who said he enjoyed the hyper-surreal take on it because the cartoon was all fluff anyway.

My argument was that while the cartoon was originally fluff it also maintained it's roots in a more classic gangster noir element the entire time as well with spies, gangster, and intrigue.

Just my opinion... a much better and more faithful take on it would have been a cleaner, brighter more old school film with actual cars doing actual stunts rather than having CGI hot wheels tracks with loop de loops. Think a PG-13 version of Death Proof meets Death Race 2000. You still have the camp and humor elements for kids but with real cars and less plastic you'd also have a movie that adults would find exciting and engaging as well.

Not that my opinion is worth anything.
